French energy major TotalEnergies has signed a terminal use agreement with Pertamina subsidiary PT Perta Arun Gas (PAG) to store LNG at PAG’s Arun LNG terminal in Lhokseumawe, Indonesia.
The 3 million tpa Arun LNG receiving and regasification hub has four tanks with a total capacity of 508,000 m3. Under the terms of the deal, TotalEnergies will use two of the four LNG tanks at the hub, with a total capacity of 207,000 m3. The first shipment, from Angola, is expected early in September 2021. TotalEnergies will store LNG at the site as part of its global LNG market strategy.
PAG president Arif Widowo says that the collaboration with TotalEnergies is in line with PAG’s vision to become a world-class LNG hub and regasification company. The two companies are also exploring long-term collaboration.
He says: ‘During the seven years since PAG was built, we have shown we have the professional competence and sufficient integrity to attract domestic and international customers. Therefore, this collaboration with TotalEnergies will be an important milestone for PAG in strengthening our role in the international market.’
