Eurotank Amsterdam (ETA), which is part of VTTI, is to convert the gasoil tanks at its terminal in the Port of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to store biofuels, mixed biofuels and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO).
The conversion follows a successful pilot project, and will make 75,000 m3 of storage available for biofuels. ETA will also develop the infrastructure for sustainable fuels, including upgrading the jetties and loading arms and building a new truck loading station. ETA says that the investments will create an important sustainable logistics hub in a strategic location. It will commission the first phase of the project by the end of 2021.
‘It is an important step for ETA, in its ambition to provide storage for renewable energy and play an important role in the energy transition of the Port of Amsterdam,’ says the company in a statement.
The ETA terminal in the Port of Amsterdam has 173 tanks with a total capacity of 1.2 million m3. It has 11 jetties and a maximum draught of 14 m. It stores refined products, chemicals and vegoils.
