Exolum’s Avikor digital platform, which allows individuals and airlines to reduce emissions from flights, has supplied sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to Air Nostrum to fuel a flight carrying the Valencia Football Club squad.
Air Nostrum will fly the club from Seville to Valencia in a CRJ-1000 using a blend of SAF and Jet A1 following a league match. Engine and fuel adjustments are unnecessary with SAF. It is one of the first flights in Spain to use SAF, and Exolum says that it represents a commitment by both the companies and Valencia to fly more sustainably.
SAF is produced from waste or plant matter and emissions from its use are up to 80% lower than Jet A1. As well as supplying and transporting the SAF, Exolum analysed the fuel in its laboratories, confirming it to be compliant with the necessary quality specifications, and also certifying the SAF as ‘sustainable fuel’ according to the EU-recognised International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) system.
