The provincial authorities in Guangdong, China, have approved phase II of development work at CNOOC Gas and Power’s Zhuhai LNG terminal.
According to Natural Gas World, CNOOC plans to double the processing capacity of terminal to 7 million tpa, and will add five 270,000 m3 storage tanks. Currently, the terminal, on which building commenced in 2010, has three storage tanks, each with a capacity of 160,000 m3.
Work on the expansion is expected to begin in June 2021, and phase II is expected to be operational by December 2023.
The Zhuhai terminal is one of nine operated by CNOOC Gas and Power in China. The others are in Tianjin, Shanghai, Ningbo, Putian, Yuedong, Dapeng, Hainan and Shenzhen.
