The UK and Ireland Fuel Distributors Association (UKIFDA) has officially launched its EXPO 2021 event, which will be held on 7–8 July 2021 and will focus on the industry’s Future Fuels initiative.
UKIFDA announced in January that the 2021 event had been postponed from its original May date to July, and that it would be virtual. The event will be sponsored be sponsored by Phillips 66. The second day of the event will be focussed on the Future Fuels project and allow exhibitors, members and delegates to discuss the transition to low carbon fuels.
The virtual event platform will have a dedicated exhibitor area which will allow exhibitors to display pictures, videos and leaflets, organise events, presentations and announcements, and to hold meetings with potential clients. There will also be a separate conference section for presentations and Q&A sessions.
‘Given everything we’re doing as an industry to contribute to the government’s net zero target – with the investment we’re making in and the campaigning for the inclusion of renewable liquid fuels – this is an exceptionally important year for our industry and our customers and why we have decided to focus on Future Fuels,’ says UKIFDA chief executive Ken Cronin.
While discussions with members and exhibitors made it clear that hosting a physical event was too uncertain, Cronin says that they still wanted to hold an accessible event to bring people together to discuss the important issues until it is safe to meet in person again safely.
Renee Semiz, managing director, UK marketing, Phillips 66 adds: ‘We are thrilled that, despite the unprecedented challenges of the last 12 months, UKIFDA EXPO 2021 is going ahead and we are proud to be the headline sponsor. Operating excellence, environmental stewardship and social responsibility sit at the very heart of Phillips 66 and we look forward to the opportunity to be part of a key event in our industry’s calendar that is shining a light on the Future Fuels initiative.’
