Petro Empire Liquids and Storage, a subsidiary of US firm Empire Diversified Energy, has completed its purchase of a chemical facility site owned by global chemical and materials company Koppers, in Follansbee, West Virginia, US.
Koppers formerly used the 35 acre (14 ha) site for coal tar distillation and naphthalene production, but announced that it would close in 2019. Empire will now develop a petrochemical storage and distribution facility on the site. The development is part of Empire’s strategy to develop an integrated energy and logistics terminal complex on the Ohio river.
‘We are very excited about this project and look forward to expanding our tank farm project and water treatment facility. I think the timing for this project could not be any better than it is now. This only the beginning of what we have planned for this site,’ says Empire president, Scotty Ewusiak.
