The board of directors of the International Liquid Terminals Association (ILTA) has voted to cancel the ILTA 40th Annual Operating Conference and Trade Show as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The conference was originally scheduled for June 2020, but was pushed back to 16-18 November 2020, after a consultation with ILTA members revealed much interest in holding the conference later in the year. The ILTA team has since put in a lot of effort into preparing for the November dates, including the implementation social distancing and hygiene measures. However, the board has decided that ultimately, it is better to cancel with two months to go, to give sponsors, exhibitors and conference attendees adequate notice.
‘After much consideration, we feel cancelling this year’s show is regrettably necessary,’ says ILTA Chairman Kip Middendorf, who is also managing director of Wolf Lakes Terminals. ‘The ILTA staff has worked extremely hard in their attempt to deliver a safe and beneficial in-person event. I am very proud of their effort and commitment. Unfortunately, because of the sustained presence of the coronavirus nationwide and continued uncertainties as we move into fall, we decided to shift our focus to developing a successful event for 2021, when we expect to return to more typical conditions for conferences and trade shows.’
