A contractor died and another was injured following an incident at PETRONAS LNG Complex in Sarawak, Malaysia on 31 August 2020.
PETRONAS has not revealed the details of the accident, which happened at around 2pm local time at the acid gas removal unit (AGRU) drain containment during maintenance works. The injured worker remains in hospital receiving medical treatment.
The company says that an investigation is underway and that relevant authorities have been informed. Operations at the company are unaffected.
‘MLNG is deeply saddened by the incident and we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased,’ PETRONAS says in a statement.
PETRONAS LNG Complex is one of the world’s largest LNG complexes on a single site. The nine-train facility has a combined annual production capacity of about 30 million tonnes.
