Spanish petroleum and storage company CLH Group is to invest €1.2 million to install two more efficient and environmentally friendly motor pumps at its facility in Loeches in central Spain.
The new electric pumps will replace the existing diesel pumps, significantly reducing CO2 and NOX emissions on site, and have a pumping capacity of 140 m3/h. The pumps can work in parallel and the line configuration will be maintained. CLH will keep the old diesel pumps as a back-up.
CLH Group is currently working to a sustainability strategy, aimed at reducing energy consumption and emissions. The company is replacing older equipment with more efficient products and new technology. It is also looking at other emission-reducing options, including generating its own energy from renewable sources and adopting offsetting measures. It aims to be carbon neutral by 2050. The strategy also includes biodiversity protection, the efficient use of natural resources and cooperating with the oil industry to develop eco-fuels.
