Noord Natie Odfjell Antwerp Terminal (NNOAT) has added seven new tanks with a capacity of 12,700 m3 to store a wide range of chemical and base oil products for the European chemical market.
Odfjell says that the new tanks, part of an ongoing expansion programme at the site will help to meet increasing demand. The new tank pit is the third fully automated tank pit at the facility and the seven stainless steel tanks, three with a capacity of 2,500 m3 and four with a capacity of 1,500 m3, are designed for speciality chemicals.
NNOAT now has 236 tanks in 16 interconnected tank pits, with a total capacity of 390,000 m3. It has a mooring capacity of 2,500 m allowing it to handle several vessels simultaneously. The ongoing expansion programme will see the capacity increase by 130,000 m3. The next stage in the expansion will be a 45,000 m3 tank pit in mid-2022. A further 45,000 m3 of land is available at the site for further expansion if required.
‘Noord Natie Odfjell Antwerp Terminal is a strategic component to our terminal platform and the expansion of the tankpit marks another step in realising the inherent potential of our Antwerp terminal. The terminal team and contractors have done a fantastic job in safely and successfully bringing the new capacity onstream during these unprecedented times,’ says Adrian Lenning, Global Head of Odfjell Terminals.
