Energy contractors Matrix Service, a subsidiary of Oklahoma, US-based Matrix Service Company, has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a new peak shaving facility in the western US.
The company has not revealed the exact location of the LNG liquefaction plant. It will execute the contract jointly with a confidential utilities firm. Construction is planned to begin in Q3 2020, and the facility is expected to be operational by Q4 2022.
The facility will include a 1bn+ ft3 (28m+ m3) LNG storage tank, and will help to ensure demand for natural gas can always be met in what the company describes as a ‘major metropolitan area and its surrounding counties.’
‘As an industry leader with more than four decades of experience in low-temperature and cryogenic tanks and terminals, we are very pleased to have been awarded this important project,’ says Matrix Service Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, John R. Hewitt. ‘We look forward to leveraging our specialized expertise in providing proven execution strategies and effective, efficient solutions in the production, re-gasification, and storage of LNG to deliver this project safely, on time and on budget.’
