The first delivery of LNG cargo has been made to Poland’s first LNG receiving terminal in ?winouj?cie.
Qatargas Operating Company delivered the cargo on Al-Nuaman, a Q-Flex vessel, which carried 210,000 m3 of LNG to the newly constructed terminal.
The LNG cargo is the first of two planned cargoes that will be supplied by Qatargas for the cool-down and commissioning of the terminal.
The second delivery is expected in February 2016.
The terminal is designed to receive, regasify and deliver 5.0 bcm of gas per annum into the Polish transfer system.
The project comprises a new 3km long breakwater, an unloading jetty with one berth that can unload methane carriers with capacity up to 217,000 m3, two LNG storage cryogenic tanks with the capacity of 160,000 m3, regasification facilities and an 85km pipeline.
The ?winouj?cie terminal is the only facility of its size in northern and central-eastern Europe.
Commercial operations are scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2016. PGNiG will receive the LNG deliveries based on a 20-year contract. Qatargas will deliver one million tons of LNG to the terminal annually.
Khalid Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Qatargas CEO, says: ‘The ?winouj?cie LNG receiving terminal is a clear manifestation of Poland’s vision and commitment to ensure diversified, reliable and secure supplies of LNG and natural gas.’
