A large liquid tank terminal which has been out of operation for two years has been successfully auctioned by the Kandla Port Trust.
The 158 storage tank terminal, which can store various types of liquid cargo including edible, chemical and petroleum, has been closed since June 2012.
According to a press release from the Kandla Port Trust, the terminal comprises around one third of the total capacity for liquid cargo storage at the port under the private sector.
The terminal was leased to FSWAI, the highest bidder in the auction, who originally owned it.
This development will help increase the volume of liquid cargo going through the port, which has suffered from a shortage of capacity.
