Vopak intends to expand its chemical product storage inventory in Saudi Arabia by building new capacity in a joint venture with SABIC.
The partnership, Jubail Chemicals Storage Services Co (JCSSC), plans to build extra capacity of 570,000 m3 in two phases. The first phase will construct 220,000 m3 while the second phase will look to build 350,000 m3.
Currently Jubail, Saudi Arabia, has more than 1.3 million m3.
It is anticipated that the additional capacity will be commissioned either by the end of 2015 or the beginning of 2016.
Vopak holds a 25% stake in JCSSC. SABIC is Saudi Arabia’s main source of non-oil exports which also provides the raw materials for various downstream factories.
In addition to this capacity expansion, Vopak is also constructing five crude oil storage tanks in Fujairah.
