ITC Rubis Terminal Antwerp has begun construction of an additional 14 tanks with 45,500m3 storage capacity for chemicals at its facility in Antwerp, Left Bank.
Rubis started operation of the storage terminal in October 2010 and with this expansion will have a capacity of 155,000m3 for the storage of chemicals and gases. The new storage capacity, comprising low-pressure mild and stainless steel tanks, will be commissioned in 2016.
The project includes adding two new ship docks and one barge dock to the facility. After the expansion, ITC Rubis will have four ship docks and three barge docks, providing customers with excellent marine facilities and abundant dock capacity.
ITC Rubis Terminal Antwerp has land available to expand the terminal in the future to a total of up to 800,000m3 for further chemical, petroleum and gas storage.
ITC Rubis Terminal Antwerp NV is a joint-venture between Rubis, an independent international operator specialising in the downstream petroleum and chemicals sector, and Mitsui, a global trading, investment and service enterprise.
Shareholdings are through Rubis Terminal, a storage operator wholly owned by Rubis, Mitsui & Co Europe, and Intercontinental Terminals (ITC), a petrochemical storage terminal company based in Houston, USA (ITC is wholly-owned by Mitsui).
