Vopak, Petroliam Nasional (Petronas) and Dialog Group have signed a shareholders agreement to jointly develop an industrial terminal in Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia.
The terminal will have a storage capacity up to 2.1 million m3 for crude, refined products, petrochemical products and LPG. The marine infrastructure will include 12 berths and a draft of up to 24m to accommodate very large crude carriers.
Commissioning of the project, of which Vopak will own a 25% share, is scheduled for 2019.
‘The location along one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes and its proximity to international trading hub Singapore makes this terminal very well positioned to serve the southeast Asia region,’ says Eelco Hoekstra, chairman of the executive board and CEO of Vopak.
The new terminal will be built next to the site of the existing Pengerang Independent Terminals facility and will serve the users of Petronas’ new Rapid project, which is an important section of the Petronas Integrated Complex.
