Vopak is looking into building a petrochemical storage facility at the Port of Constanta in Romania.
The storage company is exploring its options to potentially form a joint venture in the area, which could attract investors from other European regions such as the Netherlands.
Representatives from the Netherlands and Romania have been in discussion about the potential for storage development and Bernard Wientjes, president of the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers, says the Dutch could create a course at a Romanian university to help train students about logistical operation within the industry.
When Tank Storage magazine contacted Vopak for comment, its spokesperson said: ‘In accordance with our growth strategy, Vopak is constantly investigating potential opportunities at strategic logistic locations around the world. The Romanian Port of Constanta has a strategic importance in Eastern Europe. Vopak’s mention during the recent bilateral discussions between Romanian and Dutch industries is aimed at exploring opportunities for future cooperation.’
