A joint venture between Rubis Terminal, Intercontinental Terminals and Mitsui, is building a 100,000m³ terminal in Antwerp, Belgium.
The terminal will store and handle liquid chemicals, gases and petroleum products and will be called the ITC Rubis Terminal Antwerp.
The first stage of the development, which has a capacity of 14,000m³ for gas and 57,000m³ for chemicals, was officially opened recently, although operations actually began in November 2010. The rest of the project is expected to be completed by the middle of 2012.
Once finished, the terminal will feature a deepwater jetty with seven berths for large size chemical tankers, coasters and barges, as well as rail and truck handling facilities.
The terminal is situated on the left bank of the River Scheldt and the joint venture’s long-term goal is to build a terminal that holds a total of 500,000m³ of storage.
