Solventas storage terminal, a Turkey-based facility, is investing in the construction of new loading racks to enable more accurate filling with scales, improve the traffic flow of the terminal and increase the efficiency of operations.
For phase one of the development, Solventas has so far built four loading ranks which have created space for the loading of 32 tanks.
Each loading rack will be able to be accessed from either side and will enable filling operations to be carried out more accurately, the company says.
Both the new inline blender and the loading lines have electrical heat tracing and to minimise emissions, an electronic unit is used to send signals from the truck to the loading rack to alert grounding and over fill alarms. During open circuit loadings a gas aspiration and scrubber system is used.
The loading racks have also been fitted with grounding systems which include overfill prvention alarms, life jackets and shut down valves for added health and safety.
Optical acoustic alarms and heat detectors are connected to a central computer system and so can warn workers immediately if there is a problem.
The operations are all fully automated and the loading racks feature SCADA systems.
