Enterprise Products has bought Trinity Pipeline, a 39-mile carbon dioxide pipeline which will be converted to crude oil service for transport through the Permian Basin of West Texas.
Currently the pipeline can transport about 54,000 barrels a day to New Mexico and now Enterprise has acquired the system it will link the pipeline to its crude storage facilities in Midland, Texas and Cushing, Oklahoma.
The pipeline is 8 inches in diameter and Enterprise says the acquisition will help it to ‘meet projected growth in the area’.
Enterprise also has further plans to increase its total crude production to 120,000 barrels a day by 2018 based on 400 wells it plans to drill each year.
Enterprise is building a central delivery point and related infrastructure to receive truck deliveries and transportation to the Basin Pipeline. Construction of these facilities and conversion of the pipeline to a crude oil carrier is due to be finished by the end of 2011.
