Vopak, the independent tank storage service provider, has reached an agreement with the NIBC European Infrastructure Fund (NEIF) to build and operate a new storage terminal for oil products in the port of Eemshaven, the Netherlands.
A joint venture company established by the two partners for ownership of the facility, in which both will be equal shareholders.
The terminal will have an initial storage capacity of 660,000m3, comprising 11 tanks with a capacity of 60,000m3 each and a jetty for sea vessels.
The capacity has already been rented out for a long-term period and is expected to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2012.
The terminal, which will hold liquid oil products, such as crude oil, gasoil and gasoline, can be expanded to a total capacity of 2.76 million m3 in the future.
The joint venture and Groningen Seaports have signed an agreement for 55 hectares of land situated south-west of the Juliana port in the Eemsmond municipality.
