During a visit to the Port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum ordered the allocation of Dh4 billion (811.7 million) from the federal government budget to fund the implementation of 35 development projects in the emirate and its suburbs, including fuel storage plans.
Fujairah Port is one of the world's vital and strategic destinations for bunker fuelling and a centre for fuel storage, situated on the Eastern Seaboard of the UAE, approximately 70 nautical miles from the Strait of Hormuz.
Its strategic position has proved attractive to both the range of users of the multi-purpose port and the significant number of vessels which call into the Fujairah Anchorage for bunkers, supplies and service.
With the funds the port will undergo expansion to increase the number of warehouses from 125 stores with storage capacity of three million m3 at present, to 250 stores with storage capacity of eight million m3 of fuel products.
