Czech Republic state-owned oil pipeline operator MERO has seen profits rise in the first half of this year, thanks to the filling of oil storage tanks in April.
Overall MERO raised net profit by roughly Kc36 million (1.46 million) year on year to Kc195 million in the first half of this year, due to the growth in oil transport on top of the higher oil storage sales.
In the first half of the year MERO doubled its transport on the oil pipeline IKL from Germany.
At the same time, the volume of transport via the Druzhba pipeline fell to roughly 80% of last year's volume. The total volume of oil transported in H1 was 8% higher year on year, which represents a growth of 285,000 tonnes.
MERO runs a central oil storage tank terminal near the town of Nelahozeves near Kralupy nad Labem.
