US-based bulk liquid storage operator International Matex Tank Terminals (IMTT) has purchased 15 acres of buffer land in New York.
The city-owned land is located on the Kill Van Kull waterfront that abuts IMTTs 520 acre Bayonne facility at Constable Hook
The $1.2 million (917,000) price tag brings IMTT land which is zoned for heavy industrial use and includes 4.8 acres of unused property sandwiched between IMTT and the Atlas Yacht Club, along with 10.1 acres submerged under the Kill Van Kull.
Terminal manager Richard Fisette says the property was bought as a buffer to the terminal because the company does not want anybody building next to its property for Homeland Security reasons.
The property has a pipeline easement registered with Hudson County since 1989.
