Kuwait Petroleum International Lubricants (KPIL), which operates commercially under the brand name Q8Oils, is to open 24 new oil storage tanks in Belgium.

The 36 million litre tanks will be erected at the company’s lubricant blending plant in Antwerp replacing the existing tanks, which have already been taken apart and removed from the site.

The replacement of these tanks is part of Q8Oils’ five-year plan that will see the company increase its production capacity of lubricants to 250 million litres a year.

The expansion is in response to increased demand as well as a means to cope with yet more growth plans in the future.

By 2013 the facility in Antwerp is expected to have a fully automated production area, including new blending vessels and additional space for the bulk storage of additives and lubricants.

According to the company the expansion, once complete, will make the plant one of Europe’s top five production facilities in the petroleum industry.
