Under customs law and procedures, it received the status of a temporary open-type warehouse in May 2008 and now The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan's Black Sea Terminal at Kulevi in Georgia has received open customs-free status.
The main operations area comprising 90% of the terminals territory received the status of an open customs area where trade in all goods is conducted under the observation of the customs inspector.
The terminal was granted customs-free status as it is located in Georgia, but expedites oil and oil products for international customers.
The terminal is closely connected with Georgian state organisations and assumes legal and international obligations before them.
The decision envisages transparency in documentation, financial operations and work procedures in line with international, national and local legislation.
