A new ethanol terminal has opened to serve the railways in California, US, to meet the states new E10 demand.
The ethanol terminal operator, US Development Groups (USDG) West Colton Rail terminal at Rialto, California, delivers ethanol to Union Pacific Railroads railcars.
Vice President of USDG, Larry Padfield said: [The terminal] represents a key addition to the nationwide network of logistics terminals [the company has developed].
USDG has developed major ethanol hub facilities in cities such as Baltimore, Dallas and Houston.
USDG scheduled the terminal to be completed in time for the statewide increase to 10% ethanol blend in January 2010.
The company plans to put in a 100 railcar unit train receiving and offloading terminal to be completed by this time next year and build a pipeline to a nearby ethanol storage and petrol operation.
