In a climate where businesses seem to be downsizing, what seems to be the worlds busiest independent bulk liquid terminal operator is growing again.
The Netherlands based Vopak has plans to expand capacity at its Fujairah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), terminal to 2.1 million m3 by 2012.
Now its oil products storage joint venture could increase capacity by about 50% after reclaiming coastal land. The venture will next year study adding about 1 million m3 of storage facilities on reclaimed land on top of the 2.1 million figure.
Were currently working with the Fujairah municipality on a land reclamation project, Walter Moone, the terminals general manager, explains.
The move to add tanks on land reclaimed along the coast will depend on market conditions and the need for ship-mooring space.
