Energy major British Petroleum (BP) has opened a new 40 million litre fuel import terminal at the port of Newcastle in Australia.
The AU$40 million (23.4 million) terminal allows BP to directly import diesel and petrol into Newcastle rather than shipping it into Sydney and transporting it north by truck.
It is the state's first alternative fuel import facility outside of Sydney. The facility is connected by underground pipeline to BP's existing facility at Carrington.
The storage capacity includes a new 31 million litre diesel tank
