Georgias Batumi Oil Terminal, owner of the one of the largest oil ports on the Black Sea, has simultaneously obtained three official certificates for compliance with international standards of quality management, environmental management and operational health and safety.
The supervising body was the internationally recognised Bureau Veritas. The certification process was initiated in 2006, since when the port has made numerous improvements to all aspects of its operation.
The company ships crude oil, petroleum products and liquefied natural gas through Batumi, the main port of Georgia.
The Batumi Oil Terminal was purchased in 2008 by the Kazakh state energy firm KazMunaiGas, which is looking to increase its capacity to transport oil as it is expecting its output to grow steeply in coming years, in particular from the giant Kashagan oil field in the Caspian Sea.
