Finland's Algol Chemicals has unveiled plans to centralise its storage tank operations at the Port of Turku.
The company has leased additional land at the Ports Western Quay and equipped the area in accordance with the industrys latest technical solutions and safety norms. The area now offers a wide range of possibilities for storing, handling and packing chemicals.
The modernised storage tank area represents a pilot project within the Algol Group, as they aim to further enhance the safety of operations and the services provided to industries that use chemicals.
The size of the storage tank area is approximately 8,000 m2, with around 30 individual storage tanks. Algol currently stores and processes water solutions of liquid chemicals at the site.
Its operations comply with ISO standard norms as required by quality and environmental certification, and are monitored by the Safety Technology Authority Tukes.
