A major oil leak at the Kinder Morgan tank farm in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, was contained and none of it spilled into nearby Burrard Inlet or the surrounding residential community on 7 May.
The leak amounts to about 200,000 litres of crude oil.
Action was taken to ensure the release was contained inside a lined tank base, and as a result there were no health concerns. The company has determined the air quality was fine despite the smell of the crude oil.
The pipeline transportation and energy storage company Kinder Morgan plans to begin using vacuum trucks to slurp up the oil.
About 230,000 litres of crude spewed from the company's pipeline in the same Burnaby neighbourhood in July 2007 after the line was severed by a construction crew working for the municipality
