Kazakhstans national oil transporter KazTransOil, a subsidiary of KazMunaiGas, will begin rehabilitation of the Batumi port and terminal in August.
'KazTransOil plans in the first place to restore the Batumi reservoir to make the handling of a bigger volume of Kazakh oil possible, Abay Turikpenbayev, senior representative of KazTransOil, says.
Rehabilitation costs will be calculated by the end of July when the action plan has been put in place, he adds, saying that funds would come from the company and through loans.
In 2008, KazTransOil invested US$6 million (4.5 million) in the port and a further US$6 million in the terminal.
KazMunaiGas holds a 100% stake in Batumi Oil Terminal. The company also has the right to manage Batumi Sea Port for 49 years.
