The first giant storage tanker carrying super-cooled gas from the Middle East has arrived at a new terminal in Pembrokeshire, UK.
The tanker, which arrived from Qatar, is bringing the first container of LNG for Europes largest liquefied natural gas plant at Milford Haven.
The plant is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and Total and aims to meet up to 25% of the UKs current gas requirements.
The tanker is moored at one of the ports two new terminals built to handle deep water containers.
The natural gas is stored in liquid form to make transportation more effective and will be turned back into gas at the terminals and distributed to the UK network via a specially constructed pipeline running from Milford to Gloucestershire.
UK Energy Secretary Ed Miliband says the first shipment of gas will open up another source of gas to UK homes and businesses and help to boost energy security as North Sea supplies decline.
