Switzerland-owned Petroplus oil refinery at Seal Sands in the UK could soon be up for sale and converted into a terminal or storage facility.
Petroplus says its refining operations have been hit by the global downturn, a risk to 180 oil refinery jobs at the Seal Sands site.
The board of directors has reviewed the refinery operations and based on required future capital investments at the site, the company will evaluate strategic alternatives, including the potential sale or conversion to a terminal or storage facility, a Petroplus spokesman says.
Petroplus operates seven refineries in the UK and Europe.
