Turkey-based Solventas Terminal has completed the construction of 17 new storage tanks.
The existing capacity of the terminal has been expanded from 175,000m³ to 220,000 m³ with 175 tanks in operation.
The 17 new storage tanks are all internal floating roof tanks. Construction of a second jetty has also been completed, and will become operational by the end of April 2008. Using the two jetties Solventas will be capable of accepting vessels up to about 200m in length and more than 12m draft.
With the help of 42 different lines constructed on the jetty, many products can be unloaded from different vessels simultaneously on the new jetty. As well as unloading cargo vessels, Solventas is now able to load blended bunker fuels to six different barges at once.
The expansion project began in January 2007 and also included reclamation of 7,500 m2 of new land. Once the project is complete, total capacity will be 375,000 m³, with a total investment of approximately $60 million (37.5 million).
Solventas Terminal is an independent storage terminal for the storage of bulk liquid chemicals and petroleum products.
