Royal Vopak, the world's largest independent tank terminal operator, is set to relocate its tank terminal facilities in Hamburg, Germany.
The terminal operator plans to merge two terminals into one, accommodating the rising container activity in the Port of Hamburg. One terminal will be closed with its activities relocated to the other terminal. The integrated terminal will serve all major refinery and chemical owners in the northern region of Germany.
Vopak awarded a contract to Jacobs Engineering Group for its engineering and construction management services. Jacobs will execute the project from its office in Cologne, Germany, supported by a site-based team in Hamburg.
Vopak has been co-owner of the Hamburg Dupeg tank terminal since 1997, and in November 2005 acquired the remaining 50% share, taking full ownership. The Dupeg terminal holds 120 tanks with a combined capacity of 137,000 m3.
Vopak operates 73 terminals with a storage capacity of more than 20 million cbm in 29 countries, specialising in the storage and handling of liquid and gaseous chemicals and oil products.
