Southern Union Company recently announced that it has completed the Phase II expansion of its Trunkline LNG terminal – the largest LNG terminal in North America.
The expansion increased sendout capacity at the terminal to 1.8 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) and increased peak sendout capacity to 2.1 bcf/d. It also included the construction of unloading capabilities at the terminal's second dock.
An earlier Phase I expansion, which included the addition of a second ship berth and a new LNG storage tank, went into service in April.
The total capacity of the expanded terminal is fully contracted to BG LNG Services LLC, a subsidiary of the UK company BG Group, under long-term agreements through 2028.
