Gibson Energy extinguishes tank fire

A fire broke out at Canadian pipeline company and storage player Gibson Energy’s Edmonton Oil Terminal on 17 November.
The cause of the fire in a crude oil tank is unknown and is under investigation. No one was injured.
‘Although the terminal was temporarily shut down as a precaution, there are not anticipated to be any material business interruption impacts,’ Frank Janzen, VP of terminals and pipelines, says.
The fire struck while the tank was shut down and had been emptied for routine maintenance.
Gibson has a combined storage capacity of over 2 million barrels and average throughput capacity over 250,000 barrels of oil a day.
