Perfecting Vapour Recovery Technology
With more than 200 VRUs in operation across the world and construction of the world’s largest vapour recovery system currently in progress, Aker Kvaerner is a recognized market leader in environmental technology solutions which drastically reduce the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC).
Gasoline vapours are normally recovered for the following three reasons:
- To reduce emission of environmentally hazardous substances (VOC)
- To reduce safety and health risks in the distribution of gasoline, crude oil and other stored chemicals
- To significantly reduce loss of valuable energy resources.
The immediate economic motivation for recovery of gasoline vapours is the volume of recoverable hydrocarbons that can be reclaimed and returned to sale. Under typical circumstances, a gasoline terminal will have an average recovery potential of approx. 1 to 1.5 litres of gasoline for every 1,000 litres transferred product.
