REACH: A new Paradigm for Supply Chain Management

REACH will enter into force on 1 June 2007. The system for Registration, Evaluation, Restriction, and Authorisation of Chemicals is unlike any other regulatory system in the world. Consequently, it will have knock-on effects across international supply chains.

Although the Registration stage of implementation spans up to 11 years, companies should start devising how to manage the new EU Regulation. Certain actions must be taken before any Registration deadline, such as Pre-Registration. Some processes of REACH can even apply to particular products
exempted from Registration, such as Authorisation. Unfortunately, many companies are only just beginning to realise that they will be affected.
